It's funny how dominant the Long Island area contingent has been on this topic

Hey,

This is Chris - I used to spin at SPIZEII from 1987-1992 or so and played golf a few years ago with Ford and Wayne. I spin every once in a while as fill in for DJ Tim Cody at SUBCULTURE (Molly Bloons II) in Amityville - Fri Nights. I'll be spining there again on 11/24/06! Hope to see you all there!

and even stranger yet, seeing Malibu Sue in 2004 for the first time since 1990 or 1991 - she remembered my name. I used to be a phone person for WDRE.

I guess I disappeared for about a decade when the 90s hit and music turned crap. It still is crap of course, but at least the scene is back.

Hey Shred,

I remember you! You have to check out SUBCULTURE sometime and visit me. I'll be spinning there 11/24/06 Fri night. Hope to see you soon!

Aside from Thrush, Legz, Malibu, Spize, Spit, Paris, Reds, 007 and Be-Bop, were there any other new wave clubs thriving on Long Island during the 80's? Have we forgotten any of them?

I remember that Flipper show. Someone threw a carpet knife at the stage. The crowd grabbed the guy. Bruce Loose picked up the knife, walked over the the guy, held it to his throat and said "Violence begets violence" then dropped the knife and security took the guy away to the awaiting police.

This isn't a club, but do you Long Islanders remember Wetsons burger place? I just read an article about it in the "Long Island Press". When I was a little girl that was my favorite place to go get a burger.

Sadly, the carpet store where Thurush used to be is ALSO closed now...it's on the other side of town from my store, so I just noticed it last week.
