Before I opened this thread, I thought it would be full of the sourpusses dissing what a "beautiful song" is, how it's all relative and how many of the songs listed are terrible - blah blah. I'm glad there's none of that.

Mine:

No Stars - Figures on the Beach
On Paper - Three O' Clock
When Lovers Walk - 16 Tambourines
If You Don't Love Me, Goodbye Lucille No. 1, Cars n Girls - Prefab Sprout
1963, Touched by the Hand of God, Regret, Subculture (12in", Leave me Alone, Loveless - New Order
Pure, Joy, Lucky You - Lightning Seeds
Graceland, Honey Be Good - The Bible
If I Was, Uncertain Smile - Midge Ure
This is the Day - The The
Saturday Night, Sunday Morning - River Detectives
Time is Right - Fiction Factory
Lean on Me - Red Box
Catch Me I'm Falling - Real Life
Heaven, I Want You - Camouflage
White Lies, Modigliani, Pretty Boys n Pretty Girls - Book of Love
... so many more

I'll be sure to check out as many of the songs listed by everyone in this thread.[8D]

I forgot a whole bunch of my favorites. Shame on me. It's a mix of the new wave... and the schmaltz!

Spider - "It Didn't Take Long"
The Narcs - "Heart & Soul"
Vertical Horizon - "Everything You Want"

Stone Temple Pilots - "Sour Girl"
The Waterboys - "Whole of the Moon"
Wire - "Kidney Bingos" (too bad the lyrics are nonsense)
Starship - "Sara"
America - "You Can Do Magic"
Wet Wet Wet - "Wishing I Was Lucky" (an oddly moving song)
The Bangles - "Eternal Flame"
Madonna - "Live to Tell"
Winger - "Miles Away"

Led Zeppelin - "Stairway to Heaven"
Whitesnake - "Is This Love"
Player - "Baby Come Back"
Heart - "These Dreams"
Eurythmics - "Here Comes the Rain Again"

Al Stewart - "Year of the Cat"
Benny Mardones - "Into the Night"
Patrick Swayze - "She's Like the Wind"
Private Lives - "Living in a World (Turned Upside Down)"
Tori Amos - "Caught a Lite Sneeze"
The Breaks - "Fire in the Wire"

I love Layla from Derek & the Dominoes - always gives me chills.
I could also listen to Rambling Man from the Allmans over & over, along with "Heard it in a Love Song" from Marshall Tucker. There's something about the last two - maybe for sentimental reasons, but I think the musicianship is astounding on them.

Other than those 3...
If I Could - Anne Clark
Pacific Symphony - Transformer 2
Most anything by Sade
Dog & Butterfly, Mistral Wind, Crazy on You - Heart
Space Age Love Song - Flock of Seagulls
Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
One Paper Kid, Tennessee Rose & a slew of other songs by Emmylou Harris.
Sara, Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

Has anyone heard the new INXS song Afterglow?
It's a great song and could easily be in this category.
