Good point.

Happily, Neither Andy Summers or Stewart Copeland decided to hire some burned out, 70's hippie, love child lead singer and destroy their legacy by carrying on under the banner of The New Police!
Download these six very quick samplings from their 2000s albums. I think they're loaded with very classic, very signature New Order-ish hooks! And they've still got [i]Peter Hook on top of all that!![/quote]

The link doesn't work for me, but I can hear the samples on allmusic, and I saw a video on "Subterranean" not too long ago. Good thing they still got Peter on board, because that's the only hook I could find.

But fret not. The last NTT video link worked like a dream for me. And it's what reminded me just how much New Order jumped. [:D]

Okay, I like New Order, and all, but this is pure hyperbole. He's an adequate singer with limited range. There's no "gorgeous instrument" there.

B-52's should have called it a day after Mesopotamia. I don't even like that record but it still had that classic B-52's weirdness. Afterwards they just became a wacky pop band who's gimmick it was to be wacky.

DEVO should have quit after Oh No. Their Enigma catalog is atrocious. Their WB catalog is f*cking essential!

Echo & the Bunnymen should have called it after Ocan Rain. That self-titled album with Lips Like Sugar is an abomination compared to Porcupine!

X - after Billy Zoom quit it was no longer a band, just a vehicle for John Doe's "I Wanna Be Bruce Sprinsteen"isms and Exene's poetry. Don't get me wrong, I dig John Doe in whatever form he chooses, but X was no longer X, a sad case of the parts making the whole...

Men Without Hats - Folk of hte 80's III was decent enough, but then they ditched the predominantly synth sound for a more concentrated radio friendly pop sound and lost it.
