100% correct. I amend my answer. Nothing killed New Wave. It died a natural death like every other phase in music. Glam Rock died. Psychedelic Rock died. Hair Metal died. Rockabilly died, etc. Elements of all of these dead phases of music get revived from time to time but that's about it.
New Wave died. It had to die. It was born to die. I'm glad it's dead otherwise it wouldn't be special.
