What To Do With All These CASSETTES?

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

I kept a bunch of mine, mostly self recorded on TDK SA-90's or Maxell XLII's, in case I get stuck in the same rental car coop41 had. Pre-CD, I bought vinyl almost exclusively, for better sound quality, and if my tape got trashed (and tapes would often get lost, "eaten" or develop drop-outs fairly easily), I could just make another copy.

The few pre-recorded tapes I had were nothing special. The first I recall ever buying was Foreigner-Double Vision, and the only cassette player I had at that time was one of those mono recorders with piano key-type buttons (my folks had a console w/turntable and 8 track).

My cassette deck was removed from my audio rack years ago (sits in the closet now). I actually listen to my New Wave 8-Tracks more often!

Oh, and remember when it was the cassette version of an album that more likely had the extra or extended tracks? A few I recall off hand were Talking Heads Stop Making Sense and Speaking In Tongues, and The Cure-Hot Hot Hot. I had never heard the full "cassette" version of Speaking In Tongues (with the extra verse in "Making Flippy Floppy") until buying the recent Dual Disc remaster!

I say keep a few choice ones around.
