Heres something from our country.

Our one of the best local NEW Wave band, IDENTITY CRISIS, sent a demo tape to ROUGH TRADE RECORDS, but was apparently rejected.

I know DSR knew something about this. I read it once in the SCORE magazine. Is it true DSR??

The Psychedelic Furs vocalist ( is he Richard Butler?) formed Love Spit Love and did a cover of the Smiths song How Soon Is Now.

Robert Palmer died already? I wasn't fool enough to count him as new wave, not even his Power Station Project but I always liked the guy and his songs.

And what's with Atomic Kitten booting out Mcluskey? The thought of Andy going over hours of studio sessions with the 3 ladies makes me feel dirty.

Nina Hagen voiced the character of "Sally" in the German release of the Tim Burton film A Nightmare Before Christmas.

Su Tissue of the Suburban Lawns played the part of "Peggy" in the Jeff Daniels/Melanie Griffith flick "Something Wild".

While Terry Hall gave Bananarama their first break, it was ex-Sex Pistol Paul Cook who discovered them.

The Dog Faced Hermans got their name from a line in the Fay 1930s Wray/Dwight Frye horror flick The Vampire Bat.

Lora Logic from X-Ray Spex and Essential Logic is hugely popular in Finland because of her collaboration with Kollaa Kestää and because her mum is Finnish.

Morrissey auditioned for the punk band Slaughter and the Dogs.

PiL were one of the first British bands permitted to play an extremely large venue in Tallinn (1988) and they subsequently released the live album "Holiday In Estonia".

Radiohead get their name from the Talking Heads song.

The Killers get their name from the fictitious heavy metal hair band band that New Order play in their Touched By the Hand of God video.

Simple Minds got their name from a lyric in David Bowie's 'Jean Genie'.

The Kemps from Spandau Ballet became successful actors and directors (Martin became a director, anyway).

Pete Burns of Dead or Alive once sued Boy Geoge for stealing his look.

OK, maybe the last two weren't trivial...

Is this true? I'd never heard that that "band" was called The Killers. I have however heard several times and also always assumed that it came from the "Crystal" video (with the name on the drum kit). Support for the latter would seem to come from The Killers' own homage to that video in their "Somebody Told Me" video...

I've also heard of the Crystal tie in many times but I also heard once that the name goes back even further. I hope it's not some dead wrong instance of the rumor mill [:(]
This is beggining to be a very INFORMATIVE thread. How about this, truth or just plain GOSSIP?

1. PATSY KENSIT of EIGHT WONDER married 1 of the Gallagher brothers.

2. THE CURE's first name was EASYCURE and Robert Smith said that the worst part about the band was its name.

3. SUZANNE VEGA wrote a book called "POEMS and SONGS" which she also illustrated.

4. Gabriela Kerner of NENA is the former vocalist of STRIPES.

5. The song HEADMASTER RITUAL by the SMITHS is based on actual experience of MORRISSEY when he was still in school.

Death is a beginning of a new life. If you believe in reincarnation.

1. Patsy Kensit also played the S African chick in Lethal Weapon 2!
this toime it's pehsonal, Rog.

5. Lots of Morrissey's early-life experiences ended up in his lyrics. One thing he didn't put into a Smiths song though... he'd once been in a band called the Nosebleeds with one Billy Duffy (later of the Cult, which was originally called Death Cult)!

... and it's the LSL version that plays as the intro music to TV's Charmed.

Richard Butler. The big hit with Love Spit Love was Am I Wrong. I'm listening to the album now and am surprised how well it still holds up.

I have the earlier albums and The Cult's name went like this:

The Southern Christian Death Cult [this one I cannot confirm, was "Christian" in their name?]
The Southern Death Cult
The Death Cult
The Cult

So the name progressed over each new album's release.
