Whats with all the New Wave songs in commercials?

The VISA card commercial I just saw using (not NuWave) Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" song... all the kids in the ad were "breaking," "poping" and "locking!"

Hey, here's one with not just the music but a person himself with "Our House". From the UK...I guess Suggs needed the cash...

During Saturday Night Live (SNL), Toyota car commercial for a Sequeia (sp?) using R.E.M.'s "I Am Superman" tune--although I don't thinks it's them performing...

If you happen to see the ad for the movie "A Bank Job" (British film coming soon to a theatre near you...) they use The Clash's "London Calling"--but just snippets... [:)]

Now, two newer versions of the ad, on the one with the guy driving, not the chick one, when they pan around the inside the radio displays: "The Clash" as Presure Drop is playing. I like seeing the words: [b]The Clash<b/> on TV! [:D]

Although I posted a fresh message here earlier, I also noticed hearing Fiction Factory's "(Feels Like) Heaven" in the Resses Peanut Butter Cup commercial. So, yes Enzfan, you weren't mistaken. That Resses bit is Fiction Factory's track. All this New Wave exposure makes me wonder if today's kiddies realise what they're hearing are real 80s history making tracks and not jingles.
