Believe it or not, the Continental still exists and is still an alt club! http://www.continentalofbuffalo.com/ Went there during college and with a friend about 6 or 7 years ago. Still the king of Buffalo's alt/goth/wave scene

The Odyssey burned down? I don't seem to recall that. I remember that it closed and those 4 gigantic neon stalactites things that would descent on the dance floor were installed at the 7th Street/Fashions nightclub in Upland.

But the Odyssey was a very trippy cool club during it's time.

Marque - when in San Diego I could never resist the temptation to cross the border. I can still remember the New Wave mixes they used to play on Revolution. 91X still has the best flashback Sunday, though - lucky you, and me when the radio waves can reach L.A.

On South Beach (Miami): The Kitchen Club, The Cameo (for concerts), 5th street, Red Room . . . there was a club in Downtown that I spent lots of time at, and now I can't remember the name. And, a somewhat pathetic club that played new wave nonetheless, Biscayne Baby's in the Grove.

Haven't read through the whole postings, so it may have been mentioned already. Did anybody go to Poseurs (spelling?) in Georgetown, DC? It was an institution for the goth and new wave scene.

I was in the DC area from ´81 to ´86.

The 9:30 Club and the Ontario Theatre were great places to see live acts such as Numan, New Order, Killing Joke, etc...R.E.M used to come up from GA to play the 9:30 and we would really take the piss (a bit on the Collegey/Hippy side for us made-up hair teasers!).

I almost lived at Cagneys for a while...Heck! I even worked as a doorman there in ´85, and may I say the prettiest doorman you have ever seen. George & the girl from WHFS (was it Susan?) DJ´d there and always put on a good selection of tracks and videos.

Poseurs was also a good hangout when I was on my predatory nites out...Actually, every nite was a prowl!!!

In ´83 - ´84 there was a place on CT. Ave. called Carmichaels. It was just a bar really, but the DJ always played great stuff...lots of fond memories there(when I was sober)!!

Did anyone go to One Step Beyond in San Jose, CA???

Clubbing was fun... Going to shows were better but new waver parties were absolutly the best.

Hell yeah! I remember Stargaze and the lip sync contests on Thursday nights. Was my first introduction to New Wave and will never look back. What ever happened to creativity? Also remember Steve X spinning at the Palladium on Thursdays and Fridays. Is he still alive? And also helped my buddy promote Club Attak at the Twilight Zone on Saturday nights. One Step was cool until it turned into a rocker hangout....The pulse of real NewWave nightlife has quietly disappeared along with the fog machines and physchedelic backdrops.

I don't remember One Step Beyond ever being a rocker hangout. I went there from 88 till it closed. I used to go to the Twillight Zone during the same years. That space was really cool.......
