Let's list some really jovial jams that put an instant ear to ear smile on your face when you hear them. Ones that really get your head in a good place and that get an instant cheer from everyone at a party or in a club. Dancable, cheery, fun, kooky - whatever!
I'm thinking Red, Red Wine by UB40.

[/quote]I'm going to guess that this answer will depend on where you're from and what experiences you've had, because I would have NEVER in a million years picked "Red, Red, Wine" as a song that fits your criteria.
I'd say songs like:
"Shiny Shiny" by Haysi Fantayzee
"Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order
"Hungry Like The Wolf" by Duran Duran
"Take On Me" by a-ha
"Should I Stay or Should I Go?" by The Clash
"Love Shack" by B-52's (which everyone seems to love, though I personally despise it)
and a million more.

Of course! My favorite song: "99 Luftballons" by Nena...one of the darlings of New Wave. It's so much fun making people Nena fans. I made my wife one when we were engaged. And, I know the song isn't really a happy song, more a protest song, with a catchy beat.

Not my favorite from Elfman and the gang but "Dead Man's Party" of Oingo Boingo fits the shoe.

Based on the crowd's reaction at my recent wedding-thing (dance floor was very 80s!) I would have to say "Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order and "Holiday" by Madonna.
P.S. Mr. Hex and I had actually talked about having "Janie Jones" as the second dance but in the bustle we forgot. But put that one on my list too!

You know, I wanted to go there with Madonna but I was afraid I'd get blasted for that here on a NW site. But screw it, you're right! Maddy OWNS AND RULES like no other girl does.

Now that she-who-must-not-be-named isn't around, I don't have any back-up on this, but take it from this white-bread suburban girl, Madge was NW. [}:)]

Of course she does! First album is one of the best from the 80s + her clothes back then[:p] I'm all into chicks with those visor hats, fishnets, vinyl/PVC clothing, and lots of that blue eyeshadow[:p]

And of course, Blue Monday. A party without Blue Monday does not deserve to be called a party.
