What Bands / Songs were some of you listening to "right before" the New Wave Scene came really into its own (70's to about 80/81..).. Even if it's stuff you may not want to admit to now!!

Oh right, ELO - my first concert! Journey opened for them at Anaheim Stadium. Big flying saucer, lots of lights and violins. Sister Mary (a surfing nun!) let us sing Telephone Line in 8th grade music class. Bahahahahaha!!!

I listened to Autobahn by Kraftwerk on a 4th generation cassette I got from my friend's older sister.

I listened to country because that's what was played in my house by my parents.

I listened to blues, and Celtic music because there was a community

smurfs - i was still a kid back in those days

i loved father abraham and the smurfs - father abraham in smurfland

i had 3 smurf albums on vinyl...

Personally I liked back in the day the first 3 Led Zep albums and the First 2 Black Sabbath albums but it was my brother who listen to <prog rock> back then like Yes and Caravan and yes some of that was instram

I didn't get into any music until I was 10. The first song I remember liking a lot was "Private Eyes" by Hall & Oates. Then the first tape I ever owned was Thompson Twins, so I guess for me there was no life before New Wave.

New Wave became mainstream in about 1979. Billy Joel sang about it in his "It's Still Rock and Roll To Me": "It's the next phase New Wave Dance Craze anyway, it's still rock and roll to me".
