Just saw Paul Reynolds from AFOS again..

Postby Frank_Chickens » Sun May 14, 2006 8:21 am

..at the Electric Dreams 80s night in London.

He was staying with Lee again. Lee is a nice kid and a huge fan of AFOS. He was the one who encouraged him initially to come out from Liverpool to visit the club a couple of years ago for the first time after Lee made many visits to his house.

We shook hands and hugged and talked about the football for a bit, Liverpool were playing the next day in the FA Cup final against West Ham and I hoped Liverpool would win (they did too). He then went off to talk to someone else.

Lee told me that things were looking up for him. Apparently BMG had just paid him his share of the publishing money after Mike Score finally let go of it. He's a nice kid but does seem to be in his own world a bit.

I for one hope it's true and he doesn't piss it up the wall again on drink and drugs again. The place he's in is squalid and also not in a nice part of Liverpool. Sadly Paul is another casualty from the 80s, I for one hope things get better for him soon.

Frank,
Thanks for the info on one of the most talented and underrated guitar players of all time. I had thought after watching "Bands Reunited" that the original lineup of AFOS had done some touring, and perhaps had a reconnection of sorts, but I guess not...

There is NO chance of the original lineup getting back together again as Paul and Mike hate each other.

The version currently going in America is Mike with a backing band.

Why do Paul and Mike hate each other?

Down to money. Mike's been very loathe to give Paul the share he's due and the amount he recently got had to be more or less forced from him.

Paul's is in a poor state right now, looking more in his 50s than 40s. Another victim of the 80s poor sod.

That's a shame ... and he was the young prodigy when he joined the band![:(] He really should form a new "next wave-ish" band featuring some of his signature guitar wizardry, but I'm not sure what his songwriting skills are like. Did he write/co-write any AFOS tunes?

AFOS was mainly Mike's band and all the money he's made from it has been spent on drink and drugs. The area he lives in is rough and I'm hoping, like you, that things turn around for him.

I don't think he's got any plans for the future or indeed had any in the past, it's a shame that he's wasting his great guitar skills but right now getting from day to day is enough. [:(]

Here's a pic of Paul acting "surprised". Will try to find a better one for the future.
