New Wave related injuries

Postby Quite Life » Mon May 22, 2006 8:50 am

I was wondering if you have any stories of injuries that you obtained that were new wave related? Like:

1. Getting your ass kick by some mussel head Jocks because you were new wave
2. Getting drunk and cracking your head open at a new wave pool party.
3. Getting trampled at The Clash concert at the US Fest
4. Other…

Broken bones in fights with rednecks:

Right hand (multiple times), nose (also multiple times), 3 ribs, cheekbone.

Concert injuries:

Right hand again (fight at a Rollins show).
Lost tooth (in the pit at a Ramones show).

Does this count--

10 minutes or so ago, I was here at NWO having a look and eating dinner at the same time. Somehow, I mistook my tongue for a potato and bit the living shit out of it--to the point where I had blood all over my chin. Ewww. It hurts so freaking bad, and the whole left side is purple.

It makes me think of that Real World-London episode where the dude's nutty girlfriend tried to bite off his tongue.

When I was 11, a doberman bit me on my left leg and right arm. Those big dogs are intimidated by new wavers.

hahaha ^

Man.. no interesting NW injries for me.. apart from soreness from dancing about!

Hmm back in my younger days I had many sore necks from seeing Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Scatterbrain..

And numerous blisters from drumming in a Grunge / Metal band in the early 90's. oh.. and a ganglian in my wrist from metal Drumming (I guess that sort of counts?!)

Poor BMG! take care of that tongue! Youu could tell everyone you had a piercing accident...

The only injury I can think of is from dancing. I remember my foot slipping and then hearing my hip pop - suddenly pain shot all the way down my leg. I don't know what I did to it,but once in a while, ever since then, my hip flares up & will bother me for a few days at a time.

Usually we were the ones drunkenly thrashing around dancefloors stepping on & bashing into people... [:D]

Took me a minute . . . I immediately assumed Blir meant self-inflicted piercings! [:D]

Other than the aforementioned extra holes in my flesh, my only other New Wave-related injury is . . . heartbreak.

Yes, as a matter of fact... but it was Pier 84, NYC in '82. After being tortured by all-too-long set from opening act Kurtis Blow (BTW, Kurtis blew), the Clash opened with White Riot. Well, I was right up front and a white riot pretty much broke out. During the melee, all I remember is seeing a guy with a tee-shirt with "Eat S**t and Die, Asswipe" on it.

It was all good natured though... I survived with no major trauma...
One of my best concert moments in fact.

1) A sharp cut on my finger while trying to open a jewel box of an And Also The Trees CD.
2) 3 months ago, falling and putting my knee out of joint while dancing at a N.W. club(what an embarassement!), cost me 2 months with my whole leg in a cast.

Wow, am I ever disappointed. Is anyone on here not a wimp? [:D][:p]

Now ... to answer bobpompo:

from answers.com

red·neck (r#277;d'n#277;k') pronunciation
n. Offensive Slang.

1. Used as a disparaging term for a member of the white rural laboring class, especially in the southern United States.
2. A white person regarded as having a provincial, conservative, often bigoted attitude.

A slang term, usually for a rural white southerner who is politically conservative, racist, and a religious fundamentalist (see fundamentalism). This term is generally considered offensive. It originated in reference to agricultural workers, alluding to how the back of a person's neck will be burned by the sun if he works long hours in the fields.

* In other words, a group of idiots that doesn't like punks, run their mouths and start fights thinking punks are easy targets (especially when greatly outnumbered), and deserve to get their asses kicked. [:)]
