I remember as a kid in the early 70's getting a 45 of "Isralites" from a cousin of mine. I had no idea what I was listening to, but I thought it was cool![8D]

I am so happy I got to see him perform last year. He was great at the Vault 350 in Long Beach. Desmond Dekker was a true king among the Jamaican giants and therefore hugely influential on New Wave. He was a true gentleman performer.

Big fan here. I'll always remember the first time that I heard "Isrealites". Stunning sound hit my tender ears and I loved it right from the get go. Dekker made some of the best stuff of the earliest ska era.

Sad news.

I love "Israelites".

Wish I understood the words.
