Bands/Artists that DO NOT MIX.

Here an interesting topic that might spark some conversation....Once in a while I'm sure we've all seen stuff on Much Music or some other channel that would make us shake our heads and say :"What The F___ !!!...What the hell are they doing on stage with those F____ng ^@@!!%^&%$^ ???...'I can't beleive my eyes. I MUST BE LOSING MY MIND...
I'm talking about either groups, bands or singers that have no business performing together BUT DO !!! ...I'm talking about groups that are so different its almost like a joke when you tell someone that it actually happened...Stuff that should not have worked BUT DID !!!!...Off the top of my head there are two performances that come to mind ...In both circumstances the parties involved are from opposite spectrums of the modern music universe...but as different as they are it acutally worked !!! GOD DAMMIT IT ACUTUALLY WORKED...WOW !!!... here are my two, lets see if anyone else can find others...

David Bowie & Bing Crosby..........Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy
Echo & the Bunnymen & The Spice Girls ...On Top Of The World.

The David Bowie / Bing Crosby duo was done in the late 70's but the exact date I cannot say for certain...The Spice Girls / Echo song was done in the mid to late 90's ..both are outrageous in the fact that the parties involved are so different...but I think it also makes them special...Its kinda like saying ..."Lets All Get Along."...Does anyone have any other examples ? ...I know I do...

"Saigon...still in Saigon..., Been here a week now, waiting for a mission, getting softer. Every minute I stay in this room, I get weaker, and every minute Charlie squats in the bush, he gets stronger."

A few that worked, IMHO:

Aerosmith and Run DMC - "Walk This Way"
Time Zone
Gorillaz (at least the first album)

On edit: The title of this thread sounds like you're looking for collaborations that don't work, but the text of the first entry says you're looking for those that work. Which is it?

Saint Etienne duet with David Essex on "Relocate" from last year's album (Tales from Turnpike House). Works fabulously.

Motors as a support band in late 70s to Rush,ACDC,Aerosmith.
Algy Ward of early Damned as a late finder of heavy/hard rock combo of Tank in 80s.
Rick Rubin as the producer of Neil Diamond's comeback(however the album is very good).

A couple that work great:

Sonic Youth (feat. Chuck D of Public Enemy)- Kool Thing
Tammy Wynette and The KLF - Justified and Ancient
The Melvins feat. Leif Garrett - Smells Like Teen Spirit

One that sucks:

R.E.M. (feat. KRS-One) - Radio Song

Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra. It shouldn't really work, but they're now a classic duo.

Well, at the L.A. Coliseum in 1981 a largely unknown Prince opened for The Rolling Stones in all of his freaky-deakiness.

He was booed mercilessly through his set, which ended prematurely when someone through a JD bottle up on stage.

True story! [:D]

Back in 1976, Roxy Music opened for ELO at their show at the Kansas Coliseum here in Wichita; a bit of a mismatch. The only reason this is actually memorable is that Roxy Music came onto the stage in nazi uniforms, and were met with mass audience disapproval.
