Songs you overlooked?

I don't mean newly discovered songs or bands or albums you never knew. Rather, have you ever discovered that you really really love a song that you simply never gave a good listen to back in the day, even when you had the album or have a big catalog of the band's other material? Any biggies?
I'm shockingly embarrassed to say that Numan's "Metal" is one of these. Don't know why or how. [:0]
Human Sexual Response's exhuberant "Andy Fell" from In a Roman Mood never got a good listen either despite loving that album. [V]

From the 90s, I just realized how much I like the Smashing Pumpkins "Cherry" off the "1979" single with a classic Billy Corgan chorus part (I know, love/hate with him):

[not necessarily a posting thread - just thought I'd share the more obscure ones]

Cerrone's "Where Are You Now?" from 1980. When I first heard it - oh, I don't know, about 21 years ago! - I thought it sounded kinda cheezy. In fact, it is VERY cheezy, but I recently saw the music video on YouTube and gained moar appreciation for it.
A lot of 70s Soft Rock is that way with me. I used to think it was total shit as a youngster, but now that I am older I have an excuse to pull out a Seals And Crofts or Gerry Rafferty compilation and give 'em a spin[}:)]
A couple of days ago, I found out Jeanette also sang "Daria Cualquier Cosa", which sounds ten times better than the Chayanne version that I grew up with.

The Christians' Words. I had the record but never really gave a listen. Then just last night, I saw the video on youtube and was dumbfounded. Now, I can't find my record --- So off I go to the obscuremp3 sharing section.[:D]

Even though it was a pretty big hit for Men At Work I never really got into "Overkill" until I recently purchased the greatest hits cd. I now have a better appreciation for this song and absolutely love it.

I've had a few songs that I LOVED when they first came out, but then tired of them due to constant airplay. But for some reason, 20 years later, they stir something inside and I love 'em again!
A few years back, it happened with A Flock OF Seagulls' 'I Ran' (this is before it became big through that video game). I was out with my wife and it came on and we were about to shut off the radio when that little guitar lick caught my attention again for the first time in 20 years. Since then, I've made sure to listen to it whenever it pops up on the radio or in my iPod.
There's been a few instances like that, but I've temporarily lost my mind and can't remember......

same thing with me, I hated some songs for years because of overplay and now I love them again, I did that to bands too, I was sick of U2 and Depeche mode for a bit there and now I love them again

This one's easy.
When I was going to buy the Left of the Dial set-I saw that the Go-Betweens were on it. For some reason-even though I "Kind of" remembered them-I couldn't hum a go-between's song if you put a gun to my head.
So, I listened to Cattle and Cane and I have to say it's one of the gosh-darn purtiest pop songs I've ever heard!! How did I miss this back in the day. I KNOW we had Go-Between's records at my college station. I think I gave them a pass back then.
Can anyone out there reccomend further listening?

This Night Has Opened My Eyes- The Smiths
Never really paid attention to it until this week. Easy to everlook with all the other cool Smith's songs around.

The Cars - Heartbeat City
After they were played to death on MTV, and the fact I hated the songs "Hello Again" and "You Might Think" and "Magic" I never really gave the albumn much of a chance.
Many years later I heard the song "Heartbeat City" on a greatest hits CD and fell in love with it.

Human League's DARE album. Had it back then, just didn't think it was that special, didn't play it much, but when I re-discovered it recently, I'm totally and completely GA GA for it. It helped me rediscover their earlier lps Reproduction and TRavelogue, too. I love these lps !!!!!

I know it's quite bandwagon-y now with all the Next Wave bands claiming them as an influence, but I never gave Gang of Four much of a listen back in the day. Everything on "Entertainment!" is genius.
Also, I sorta liked "Rainy Season" by Howard Devoto, but was pretty indifferent; now I'm obsessed.

When I started liking Joy Division, I didn't pay much attention to Shadowplay. But as time went by, I just realised that it was a great song.
Same for High from the Wish album... at the beginning I didn't pay attention to it nad now I think that is a beautiful song.
