Anyone here have a copy of the GREAT BUILDINGS LP relased on Columbia? It's actually called 'Apart From The Crowd', but some refer to it as self-titled....either way, it's their only album!

The LP jacket says Apart From The Crowd across the front, below their name.
GREAT LP by the way

Yes, it is a great album....
The problem with the title is that it was a sticker on the original release's shrinkwrap and not on the cover itself, although promos had it on the cover and maybe later pressings did as well.
My original and at least 2 others that I've owned say nothing about the title on the front.
Is your title printed on the sleeve or a sticker?
And did you have the catalog number?
Thanks for the help, Grunch! I owe you (and I promise not to clean up any of your vinyl!!!)

The title on my LP appears in bold black lettering, a little smaller than the group name, right on the jacket itself, as well as on the actual label on the vinyl itself.
Record number: not sure which of these is the actual number:
BL 36920, NJC 36920
By the way, finally now listening to The Expression from Almacantar. Through track 5, it sounds perfect. I had just heard it was from vinyl, so assumed it was obvious, but must admit, it sounds good to my ears so far. Being from vinyl itself is ok, if it is done well, and it sounds like you did it well to me. I am happy with the sound. [:)]

Thanks for all the info, Grunch. You've helped out alot!
And thanks for the vote of confidence on The Expression. I have to admit that for a few days after the whole vinyl/mastertape 'war', I began to doubt my own transferring work, but I've heard more positive reaction to my transfers than the negative ones here, so I've moved forward!
I don't take most things personal but I can be a bit defensive when it comes to things that I know that I do well (as we all can be at times).

I understand, and I guess I should have listened for myself. I was figuring I was going to hear lots of vinyl noise, but I;ve tried, and don;t hear any, it sounds pretty damn good. So for now on, I will make sure I have listened and judged for myself. I know there are major audiophiles out there that maybe can tell things that I would never hear myself, with their equipment, but the equipment that matters most to me is my ears - so hats off to The Expression, I am pleased with these. Thanks for all your efforts.
I am certainly hoping that the LP's you've been asking about are going to end up in the pipeline for release. Man, there are just so many wonderful 80s releases that still need their CD release, as well as some great releases from the 60s and 70s. I'd love it if some label were to tell me to choose 200 LP's to be put on CD, I'd go nuts. Of course, that will not happen, but I do hope they see the light of day on many of them.
Here's a thought, and question: What if a label mastered an LP for release, from either the tapes or vinyl, and they were cleaned up to sound quiet like The Expression. But instead of having to market, produce and ship out stocks, just have the artwork and the tracks on their website, where customers could pay a nominal feel to download the whole release, inclding artwork, right from the site, so there is no CD production to be done, etc.......seems everyone could win this way, for titles they know would not sell in larger enough volumes for regular manufacture and distribution. I know there are probably good reasons why they don't, or can't, do this, but man it would be great if tons of these LP's could see release, even if via digital downloads, from the labels or distributors, etc.....

These titles are in the pipeline, but will not be vinyl transfers. I'll let you know when I know more! And thanks again for listening...I have only heard 2 negative views of the discs (from this site) and more than 50 positive ones (including the band)...
