Need YOUR help #5-Four Out Of Five Doctors

Postby Spaz » Tue Jul 04, 2006 3:36 am

Does anyone have both Four Out Of Five Doctors albums? They were on Nemperor Records. There's a self-titled one and one called "2nd Opinion". I'd love to get the catalog numbers of both of those!

NJZ 36575 looks like the number on the LP jacket for the self-titled LP.

"4 Out of 5 Doctors" is indeed NJZ 36575. Released January, 1981.

"2nd Opinion" is ARZ 37700. Released January, 1982.

If you need catalogue #s of singles, I own most of them...

Modern Man/New Wave Girls - ZS6 01048
Modern Man/Modern Man (WLP) - ZS6 01048
I Want Her/Opus 10 - ZS6 7538
I Want Her/I Want Her (WLP) - ZS6 7538
Never Say Die/Never Say Die (WLP) - ZS5 02716

Don't know if there's a commercial release of "Never Say Die," but I don't have one. Of course, other than "Modern Man," the singles were pretty poorly-chosen, and "New Wave Girls" was wasted as a B-side.

There's also a WLP sampler containing tracks from the debut, though I don't have that, either, and don't know the cat # offhand. It pops up on ePay from time to time, so I can always write it down the next time it's up for sale.

If you need to know anything more behind-the-scenes, you can always go directly to the source and ask Jeff Severson ( http://www.jeffseverson.com and http://www.jeffplaysguitar.com/ ) and Cal Everett (http://onestopband.net/ and http://www.myspace.com/onestopband/ ) themselves.

There are at least 17 unreleased tracks (recorded during the self-titled album sessions alone) that I'd kill to hear.

Thanks for all this info. Very helpful indeed. I've just asked to see if the label is interested in unreleased stuff. I'll let you know....

Pardon my stupidity on this, but what is LOC?

Sorry, Library of Congress.

Which, I just realized, has release dates of both September, 1980 and January, 1981 for the debut. When they do that, I tend to go with the later one as the one that's correct. For no other reason than they have October, 1985 and January, 1986 release dates given for Face to Face's "Confrontation" and Aldo Nova's "Twitch." I bought both those albums (which were also distributed through CBS) the week they were released -- and I was pretty positive it was in January, 1986. Several internet sources also confirm 1/86 as the release date for "Twitch." Also, fellow Nemperor band Single Bullet Theory have a website where they talk about how their album was going to be released in the Fall of 1982, and then the release was pushed back to January, 1983. It would seem this was done a lot at the CBS stable.

But it's probably best to ask.
