Who's King & Queen of New Wave?

If you had to pick a performer who exemplifies what NW is all about, who would be the King and Queen of this category or maybe just one representative, who stands above the rest?

It depends on how the label of "New Wave" is percieved and valued. If seen as some empty novelty as some might view the genre, then Peter Burns (which I did find pretty funny) would be consistant in that regard. However, those who would take the prom approach more seriously (if still superficially) might vote otherwise. My choices would have to be Elvis Costello & Debbie Harry, both for their impact and longevity, not to mention the respect they've earned for their place in history...

Queen: Debbie Harry is probably as acurate as you can get, but I'll have to nominate Kim Wilde just cause.

King: I dunno, David Bowie?

I would bring Debbie and Siouxsie both to the prom and as for the guys, I think Elvis Costello is a good choice, David Bowie isn't really NW so he's not a good choice IMO. Maybe Simon LeBon?

Annie Lennox has to at least be on the ballot for Queen.

As does Bono, Robert Smith and Billy Idol for King.

Terri Nun is definitely the Queen. She is still a great performer and can still sing. Robert Smith is the King.
