It was played quite a bit on Mtv. It also appeared on the Valley Girl Soundtrack.
The Flirts mainly had hits on the dance charts in the mid-80's - You & I, New Toy, Helpless, Dancing Madly Backwards.

In LA at least, three tracks off 10 Cents a Dance got played a lot; Jukebox, We Just Wanna Dance, and Surf's Up. I stopped paying attention after that first album.

I believe Jukebox was their biggest crossover hit and Danger was their biggest dance hits. I remember a lot of dj's in the 80's playing Danger in their regular dj sets. Internationally, Passion, Helpless, Dancing Madly Backwards, did ok in the dance charts but did pick up any steam on the regular charts. I believe with every album, Bobby O changed his girls. A lot of them were really pretty.

Bobby Orlando, more famously known as Bobby "O" is the best producer in my opinion. The Flirts were one of those bands that like Sean had a different sound for each album, as Bobby "O" decided to change the lineup on each album so the sound was fresh. '10 Cents A Dance' is their most popular album and contains the hit "Jukebox" which in my opinion is a total '60s pop revival song. The album as a whole never impressed me, but I love their cover of "I Only Wanna Be With You" which seemed to be a popular song to cover at the time. The next several albums released contained more dance/disco oriented songs, as many can classify "Jukebox" as a new wave hit, the other songs they had were more danceable and bigger in the club scene as most of you mentioned. Their popularity died out around 1986 and their last single was "You & Me" that succesfully made it. I can't tell you how many times their songs were re-released, but it seems it was the happenin' thing to do, Bobby "O" had commercial sucess with other acts like Divine and Roni Griffith at the time, so the Flirts seemed to be a test project for him. Malibu another band Bobby "O" put together had a very similar sound to the Flirts, and their song "Goin' Crusin'" was written in the same vein, fun and poppy song that was very catchy. It's safe to say that all Bobby "O" produced songs sound the same and are based on hopeless romance and other tales of teenage love for the most part, don't believe check out this NEAR complete discography

Funny, just heard "Don't Put Another Dime in the Jukebox" for the first time in years Saturday on Sirius "First Wave." Richard Blade said they actually rotated girls in the band so often, he never saw the same group twice.

They never had a hit on the pop charts. O Records didn't really have the distribution to get them on there, and when they moved to the majors, their material wasn't really worthy of being on there. Based on how much airplay and MTV play "Jukebox" got, I always assumed it placed somewhere on the Hot 100. Maybe it was a sleeper...
"You & Me" did top the Billboard's dance/disco chart.

Many of Bobby Orlando's acts were on his label "O" records and probably the reason many of his produced bands were not widely known outside the club scene. Roni Griffith was on Vanguard and Malibu shared the Bobcat label along with many other early Bobby "O" produced acts and singles. Another band that comes to mind is One Two Three which were on Prelude and even had a music video in 1983 for their second single "Another Knife In My Back" and their first being "Runaway Girl" which I am sure some of you remember. Bobby "O" just released an album last year with all new material and the single "Sorry" is very good in my opinion, definitely worth checking out if you are a fan.

This song will hit the charts when some teenybopper of today re-packages it with downloading and IPod content, no doubt. Hopefully, it will then die the quick death that Mandy Moore's version of "The Whole of the Moon" did.
