The truly great thing about NWO is learning about things you either missed the first time around or ignored for some reason....

Which 'obscure' bands did you hear about here that you later fell in love with (or at least dug enough to go out and buy something by them)?

SPAZ
Born of innocence. Free of ignorance.

Well, in the past 30 seconds, I've discovered "White Rose Movement" (seriously).

Also that damn "Stay the second time around" song which I'm dumbfounded nobody's solved at this point!

I've learned the fruitlessness of searching for Girl Waiting by Boy Waiting (or was it the other way around)

And I can honestly say that had it not been for the NWO I would have never have heard of Blanket of Secrecy!

I thought I knew all there was to know about the Beloved until Grunch posted a couple of songs from their little known "Where It Is" album. Incredible stuff, just so...unexpected. At least from them. Anyway, there are lots of great revelations in this thread:

Sad Lovers and Giants
The Essence
Moloko+
Vision UK
Lowlife
Fast Junction

just to name a few. I keep pushing the "back" button on my CD player when their songs come up and I truly do love 'em.

LOTS of stuff.

But the 2 artists I've discovered here that I listen to the most would have to be:

Trees

and

The Essence

I'm another who discovered Moloko+ here. The two tracks that were made available here are fantastic and if anyone has the rest of the album that could be made available it would be appreciated.[:)]

Ok, seriously, there's a lot of obscure bands I discovered in this site, thanks to MikeP's SOTW! There's too many to mention.

A few off the top of my head from some individuals:
ISIDORE - courtesy of Grunch-the-Great
IMAGES IN VOGUE - I think that was British(?), I don't remember
TRUE WEST - UnguardedMoment (ElectricLash)

... and a lot of bands from Motors like Dogs Die in Hot Cars, The New Pornographers, Static Age, VHS or Beta, Arcade Fire, etc.

I forgot to mention "DarkWave" who introduced me to "Six Billion Monkeys". Thanks again, DW!

Here are some bands I checked out because of either hearing them through here directly or through folks I've met through here, and whose music I've come to enjoy very much and don't know how it got past me the first time around:

Clan of Xymox
Lloyd Cole & the Commotions
Cherry Vanilla
The Bolshoi
Moev
Robin Hitchcock (I've heard this guy before, but didn't really pay attention to him back in the day. What an oversight!)

An honorable mention goes to Fischer Z, who I haven't gone searching for anything more than what I was exposed to here, but one of these days...
