I'm sure that this has been done in the past, but with the Human League on tour and the Heaven 17 reissues due, I thought I'd throw it at you again....

When the Human League split into two parts, who do you think were the better of the two bands, Human League (from the album "Dare" onwards) or Heaven 17 (all albums)...

Take into account their entire catalog, not just ONE great album and judge by that....

Wait, wasn't it The Future that split into two parts, thus forming The Human League and Heaven 17, or was The Future something else?[B)] I go with teh League.

The Future was early Human League. They changed their name, recorded two albums as Human League then split into the two bands. Phil Oakey took the band's name and voice and Ware and Marsh took the music...

both excellent bands, but I definetely prefer Human league over Heaven 17 - Seconds alone would be an argument to vote for the league...

Guess I'm in the minority--I much prefer Heaven 17. The Luxury Gap is one of the greatest LPs of the 80s IMHO

I like the HL because they are fun and catchy. However, H17 has always been consistent with their stylings and themes. Imagine what it would be like if the two now rejoined.

I voted for Heaven 17.

Human League.

Though I was tempted to vote for the last option. [:p]

Easy choice. There's more quality in the first 15 seconds of "Being Boiled" than in the entire Heaven 17 catalog.

I'm a big, big fan of Human League (one of those artists that I've appreciated much more in recent years---thanks to NWO--than I did back then. Their diversity is awesome, plus I always dig me some dark electronic noodlings from late 70s/early 80s.
Heaven 17 are so boring (like XXX said) !

Um....
Let Me Go
Penthouse and Pavement
Fascist Groove Thang
We Live So Fast
Temptation
Come Live With Me
Sunset Now
And That's No Lie
Contenders

The singles off the top of my head. Again I realize I'm way outnumbered here, but of the many adjectives I would describe their career with, boring isn't one of them. Their later albums especially experimented with different styles, arrangements, and acoustic instruments. They may not have always hit the mark, but they always tried something different.

Not meant to sound like I'm slamming Heaven 17, NWRx, I just like the Human League mucho better and find myself listening to something from the Human League almost everyday. The most I listen to Heaven 17 is maybe 3-4 times in a month. Just my personal preference. Doesn't mean that I don't love Heaven 17's stuff.

Slightly off topic: Am I the only one here that wonders how great "Let Me Go" would have sounded with Phil Oakley doing the vocals? (Maybe the HL should do a cover version) Shame that they split into two camps...even though they both put out some great stuff since then.
