Blir mention the band Spazmatics, so it reminded me of the band Plasmatics.

I remember them being quite popular back in the day. Lot's of shirts, posters, vinyl and sold out club shows, etc. I don't recall them being mentioned here on NWO. Surly some of the older members of the board saw these guys back in they day? Any thoughts? Still listen to them? More show than substance?

I still give them the occasional listen. I always thought they were a lot better than they were given credit for but sadly they'll be remembered mostly for all of the insane stunts.

I saw the Plasmatics perform in Albany in 1979 or 1980. Most went to see Wendy O. Williams, not to listen to the music.

Wendy O. was in the movie "Reform School Girls", which shows up on cable from time to time.

When you mention Plasmatics, I can't help but think of Maggots.

They certainly got a lot of attention back then. I never saw them live - but always caught them when they would appear on Tom Snyder's late show. I think he had a crush on Wendy O....

I liked a few of their songs - I even remeber the album rock stations played them.

The Plasmatics were a huge influence on me as a young punk rocker. Unfortunately I didn't get to see them until late in their career, 1987ish on the Maggots tour.

I still listen to the first 2 albums (New Hope For The Wretched, and Beyond The Valley Of 1984) a few times a year. After Beyond The Valley they went too metal for my tastes. I don't know if their records stand the test of time, or if I listen to them with rose colored ears.

Saw them circa 1980/1981... put on a good show... everyone just went to see if Wedy O would remove her black electric tape from her breast to expose those nipples... alas, it never happened when I saw them! [:(]

I remember an interview of them on KROQ by Rodney Bingenheimer, and they said they were tired of recording status quo punk, and wanted to all just go into the studio, and lock themselves into sound-proof booths and just play wahtever they wanted to, and then all the parts into the mix and make a song from those solos jams! I don't think they ever did that.

Theyt have their place in the punk meovement, just don't get the credit others have gotten over them. [:0]

I've listened to their Stiff releases and it's all right, nothing special.

Don't really hate them. Indifferent, I guess. Not much of a story either.

I recall listening to "Maggots - The Record" quite a bit, as a friend was fond of it. A horror movie without the video. I got tired of it quickly. The "[xx(]" was for that memory, as well as the B-movie style graphic grossness of the album concept itself.

Yep, twice actually. Once on the EP "Meet The Plasmatics", and then on the LP "New Hope For The Wretched".

I saw them In Atlanta back in '81. They were hard rocking as hell and gave a fantastic performance.I actually got to meet them backstage and Wendy was a very sincere and genuinely nice person to me.We talked for awhile.I was shocked when I was reading the newspaper back in something like '97 late at night to find out she committed suicide[:(].You Tube has some good footage if anyone is interested.

Didn't they have a video with a bus on fire, or something like that... and a wall of TVs?

A friend of mine just asked if I would play guitar in her Plasmatics cover band for Halloween. Of course I accepted the offer!

Last year I did The Avengers, the year before I did The Damned.
