Did Laurie Anderson have songs? Maybe not. I'll have to think about this some more.

No I think you have her confused with Jon Anderson who I am almost positive had songs (but not New Wave).

I vaguely liked that one guy in 1982 (or was it 1983) with the hair that sang that one song. But...only kinda sorta. He was OK...I guess.

I've been trying to think, but cannot come up with any. I know Olivia Newton John, an original punker, had one punk/new wave classic with I Honestly Love You........but most of her material would have to be classified as goth/death metal.

Olivia Newton-John was not punk! I'm so sick of people claiming she was punk just because she had duets with John Travolta. It's impossible to find someone more punk than Grease-era Travolta. Only Frankie Valli came close.

I was all about Debbie Boone's "You Light Up My Life" when it first came out. I had seriously never heard something so astonishingly fresh and original in years. I think it was then that I knew that there was this whole other "scene" going on in music - something so outside of the mainstream that I could really relate to it.

I remember a band that had people that sung to music and it was around 1980 and they had lyrics and they did play stuff.Don't if they had any songs though. I'll check my records when I get home.
