Question for New Order experts

Hi,

I just picked up the soundtrack to Married to the Mob, mainly to get "Devil Does Your Dog Bite" by the Tom Tom Club.

There is a version of Bizarre Love Triangle on the disc that clocks in at 3:55 -- but there's nothing to indicate which mix/version this is. At the 1:20-ish mark, there's a "do-do-do-do" part that is not in the 4:21 version (which I think is the Brotherhood version -- I have it from the boxed set). Also, the last 17 seconds or so of the 3:55 version is an instrumental fade-out (kind of a light synth thing).

Any New Order experts know which mix the 3:55 version is?

That would be the Married to the Mob mix. [:o)]

Seriously, I think that's how I've usually seen it referred as. It doesn't appear on any other single or comp. It's the longest of the "standard" length mixes such as the 3:23 US Edit, 3:37 Canadian 7", 3:44 CDS "single remix", 3:40 7" edit, or 3:51 Splendor soundtrack version, EXCEPT for the 4:21 album version that appears in various places, while much shorter than any of the extended mixes. It is, I believe, unique. [8D]

Only on MTTM, afaik. All the other versions are produced/remixed by New Order themselves, or Shep Pettibone afaik (actually there is a Rzorormaid remix, plus probably others post 1990, but they don't count[:D])

I never really thought to question the different version of Bizarre Love Triangle appearing on the MTM soundtrack before (the whole of which is most excellent, by the way. I also originally bought it for that Tom Tom Club song!).

I just simply figured that there must be a gazillion different versions of Bizarre Love Triangle, and this was just one of them.

From that very unofficial and not necessarily reliable repository of information called Wikipedia:

UK 12" - FAC 163
"Bizarre Love Triangle" (6:44)
"Bizarre Dub Triangle" (7:00)

UK 7" - FAC 163
"Bizarre Love Triangle" (3:40)
"Bizarre Dub Triangle" (3:23)

US 1994 CD - Qwest 9 20546-2
"Bizarre Love Triangle" (Album Version) (4:20)
"Bizarre Love Triangle" (Extended Dance Mix) (6:44)
"I Don't Care" (7:00) [Actually Bizarre Dub Triangle]
"State of the Nation" (6:31)
"Bizarre Love Triangle" (Single Remix) (3:44)

A little more Internet digging came up with this:

discography
- -------------------------------------------
Married to the Mob
[1988]

LP: US 1988 (Warner/Reprise Records 9 25763-1)
CS: US 1988 (Warner/Reprise Records 9 25763-4)
CD: US 1988 (Warner/Reprise Records 9 25763-2)
3:54 Bizarre Love Triangle

- --------------------------------------------

CS: UK 1991 (Select Magazine FACT 305c) ****
Bizarre Love Triange (stephen hauge mix)

**** Given away free with "Select" magazine,
article on "Factory Bands".

This mix is the same as the "Married To The Mob" mix.

(That should be "Hague", of course.) Can anyone confirm this?

Edited to say: shit, you guys are fast with your replies!
