Vote which group was your favorite 2-Tone ska band from the U.K. during the "second wave" of Ska since the '60s Jamacian invasion!

Who do you perfer. Feel free to comment why, etc. if you wish. [:D]

Tough call for me..Dave and Roger's songwriting beats (no pun intended) out Madness and The Specials by a hair

Songs like The Selecters 'On My Radio" is a standout....But my vote went to The Specials who could do no wrong.

I highly recomend for EVERYONE get the 2 ToneĀ® sampler which has the best tracks from all the labels artists....

on an almost unrelated point... I just listened to Madness '7' last night, and although that is a great album ---maybe a little too fussy.....

Others had several good songs, but none could beat the consistency and range of the English Beat.

All these bands were great, but no one holds a candle to the first and best of them all...The Specials. However, I wouldn't lump Elvis in there, he was more power pop than anything else. You should do a singles poll next :)

I was never a huge fan of the ska, but I did catch the 1993 Skavoovie tour with Special Beat and The Selecter. I still remember The Selecter set so my vote went to them. Besides, Pauline Black was a looker back in the day.

I also voted for The Selecter...

Pauline was totally "hot" back in the day, still not bad looking today, she was always nice to me, no super-star attitude; I promoted their "comeback" tour of North America in 1992! [8D]

Still wear the tour shirt, cover of first album with the words on the bottom: "Too Much Pressure Tour '92."

Ok, we'll do a singles contest next, which might be quite interesting. Regaring Elvis, he was signed to 2-Tone, but never released the single, and I've never seen any info on the titles of the songs (as of yet!)... I put them in their for folks to vote ECATA if they don't like ska music.

Although I love the English Beat, I have to vote for Madness solely
on the strength of their first lp.

Madness... had to vote for them.
Coming to Argentina for the same festival that New Order, but they play one day before.
I'm missing it... in the sake of New Orderism. [:(] But well, I think that seeing New Order, Ian Brown and The Bravery within the same day is gonna be great.

Ouch, no shortage of great bands to choose from here.

Loved the Selecter, Bodysnatchers and English Beat at the time, but the bottom line is that the Specials were 2-Tone.
