999

I guess due to geography and age, 999 was one of those bands I missed out on first time around.

Lately, I got my hands on a copy of their self-titled record and I've been listening to it over and over and over. Fast, fun and furious. This is great stuff.

Any fans out there? What else am I missing out on by 999?

Hi Zill!
There is a new thread on URGH! A New Music War (a movie). 999 is in it doing Homicide. Someone even said that it will be on VH1 Classics this month. Check out the responses for details. You will enjoy!

I have "The Punk Singles (77-80)" and "Takeover". I find the latter just as good as the self-titled album. Go get it!!!

My favorite albums by 999 are "Biggest Prize in Sport" and "Concrete". I would highly recommend the Captain Oi! re-releases of both these titles, as there is a fair amount of bonus material on them that never made it onto albums, specifically "Wild Sun" and their version of "Indian Reservation".

They kinda lost me when they released "13th Floor Madness", as they went in a different direction musically. I hear on some of their more recent releases they went back to their old sound and it's every bit as good as their earlier stuff.

I saw them live when they were touring "Biggest Prize in Sport" and it remains as one of the all-time best concerts I ever went to.
