MTV Europe viewers apparently like DM better than the Chili Peppers, Pussycat Dolls, etc. Depeche were voted Best Group in the viewer-vote category of Best Group at the EMAs.

Interesting. Wonder if US MTV viewers would even have a clue who DM were. LOL

Thanks for the update, Ebbhead. Here's Mart receiving the Ivor Novello award in 1999, definitely deserved:

Look around my blog, everyone. I've been posting lots of Depeche Mode material lately and will keep doing so for a little while.

That's awesome. Well deserved.

My two favorite bands got an award the same week. (a-ha got a Q Award for Most Inpirational Band.)

ahhh, those award ceremonies... it makes me already laugh if someone lists Pussycat Dolls as 'Band'....
so nice to see Depeche at least took it away from the others.

They are actually showing this show on MTV2 at 8AM on a Sunday morning, and Fletch just accepted the award. But where is Martin Gore, Dave Gahan?
Pussycat Dolls nominated as best group? How ludicrous!
