hey, this may be a dumb question...but what are the best settings for speakers? i used to have a stereo with settings, but now i have these two speakers with bass/treble knobs. what's the best way to set the Bass and Treble knobs? i've had the treble to the max (bass in the middle) for months now, but someone told me recently that it could damage your ears, that true?

Hey. I Usually leave my tone controls 'flat' or off but this only sounds good if you have a pretty high-end system. If you are using self-powered speakers, as i think you are, I would boost the bass as high as possible without adding distortion, then add treble to where you like. I believe its the distortion in the high-frequency region which causes listener fatigue and possible tweeter damage at high volume levels
