Here's some of the best collaborations of new wave that resulted in a single release, IMO.

Robert Görl (DAF) - A. Lennox (Eurythmics)-- Darling don't leave me.
Midge Ure (Ultravox) - Mick Karn (Japan) -- After a Fashion.
David Sylvian (Japan) - Sakamoto (YMO) - Bamboo Music
David Bowie - Pat Metheny -- This is not America
Mick Karn (Japan) - Peter Murphy (Bauhaus) -- Judgement is the mirror
Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo) - Paul Quinn (Orange Juice) -- One Day
Vince Clarke - Feargal Sharkey (Undertones) -- Never, never

Other collaborations as high class as these I forgot?

Speaking of Bowie, I like his and Massive Attack's collaboration on Moulin Rouge for "Nature Boy". Then there's also Bowie & Marianne Faithful for "I Got You Babe".

Would Moroder & Oakey for "Together in Electric Dreams", "Goodbye Bad Times", etc, count? How about Jon Anderson & Vangelis for "Friends of Mr. Cairo", etc, or did they kinda become a band for awhile? Others that I think were singles:

Dave Stewart & Barbara Gaskin - It's My Party
The The & Sinead O'Connor - Kingdom of Rain
Radio Heart & Numan - Radio Heart
Moodswings & Chrissie Hind - Spiritual High (State of Independence)
Iggy Pop & Kate Pierson - Candy
The Jesus and Mary Chain & Hope Sandoval - Sometimes Always

Others that my not have been singles (were they?):
The Pogues & Sinead O'Connor - Haunted
Sharpe & Numan - New Thing From London Towne
Summerville & Almond - I Feel Love
The Call, Peter Gabriel & Jim Kerr - Everywhere I Go
Joan Jett & Steve Jones - You're Too Possessive
Morrissey & Siouxsie - Interlude
Pukka Orchestra & Yello - Naked Drunk & Horny

PSB and Dusty Springfield in What have I done to deserve this?

Any collaboration that includes Bowie is good... with the exception of Dancing in the streets [:p]. I love his collaboration in Kashmir's The Cynic song.

OMG, how soon we forget. Might be the most played...unless of course you include things like Bowie/Queen or Peter Tosh/Mick Jagger.

I also forgot a fav of mine, New Order/Billy Corgan - Turn My Way.

Someone should make another elimination game with all the collaborations and duets. Or maybe not...

The Pogues & Sinead O'Connor - Haunted

Awesome, one of my favorites.

And on the Bowie trip:
Bowie and Lou Reed- "Waiting for the Man"
Bowie and Adrian Belew- "Pretty Pink Rose"

There's also a great live cover of "Careless Whisper" by Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright
