From VH1:

ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2007 ANNOUNCED

R.E.M., Van Halen, Patti Smith, The Ronettes and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, March 12th during a ceremony at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. To be eligible for induction, this year's class had to release their first single no later than 1981. The event will also pay tribute to late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, who served as the chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

I wonder who will show up for Van Halen. Will it be David and Sammy?
Will the original Van Halen be the ones inducted? I guess I will have to wait and see. [:D]

I believe they induct the original lineups, typically. There's been rumors that they'd reunite with DLR anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised, I guess.

I find this very interesting.

Apparently, according to Ronnie Spector, the Ronettes have been systematically denied admittance to The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame for the past twenty years because of her ex-hubby Phil's (aka "Crazy-Hair Nutjobstein") influence in the recording industry. Seems as though now that Phil is possibly headed to the big-house the Ronettes are finally being accorded some recognition and allowed to be inducted. Good for them.

Oh, and Patti Smith? About fucking time!!!

Today's Plain Dealer says, " Eddie Van Halen and his drum playing brother Alex will be inducted alongside Roth, Hagar and bass player Michael Anthony." It adds that Gary Cherone is not to be inducted. Hagar is quoted as saying he thinks there will be friction between Roth and Eddie.

I don't understand why Hagar would be inducted.

When the Clash were inducted, since Terry Chimes was the drummer on the first records, he was the one inducted. We all know that Topper Headon, who came a year or two later, was one of the greatest drummers and helped to define the band's sound...but since he wasn't a member when the band became eligible, the wasn't inducted.

It is unexcusable that Kiss still remains on the outside looking in. [V]
