dutch new wave bands...NEW ADVENTURES & POWERPLAY

[georgie rockwood]

whats your thoughts about the dutch new wave bands....new adventures and powerplay??????
new adventures self titled album came out on polydor records in 1979 and were supposed to be holland's biggest punk/new wave band at the time and holland's answer to the police.
powerplay's only album,"avanti" came out on the cbs/epic label in 1981 & was supposed to break big in the states..(i know, cause i was one of the A/R guys on the label with a few others tryin to break them here, but epic here couldnt figure them out or how to market them etc....and so when you get no label or tour support you know how the story ends)
but i think both albums are worthy.............

I have both of New Adventures albums which are very good in their own universe. They were marketed (like thousand other bands of these confused years)as ''Punk rock'',but truly were harsh pub rockers with some new wave touch.Still,i like them as much as Dutch scene with its great glam/power pop/punky scene with bands like Bintangs,George Baker Selection,Catapult,Karlsberg and ofcourse Shocking Blue.

I can say I know these two you mention very well, but I'm quite a fan of another Dutch new wave band, Gruppo Sportivo.
