OMD...lost in the dark?

It's quite strange but nobody here remembers OMD anymore here in Serbia. People here are quite familiar with bands like Kraftwerk, New Order, Depeche Mode, but if you aks if anyone remebers OMD, nobody knows anything about them. Only few recall them by Enola Gay. I don't even remember the last time I heard a song or saw OMD video on TV.
I was wondering what's up with them in other countries and other parts of the world. Are they still popular the same way New Order and Kraftwerk are, or can people hardly remember them.

OMD is still played on the radio here in New York.
I can't say the same for Kraftwerk though. I never hear any of their music played anymore.

I guess OMD has the same popularity in Norway as in Serbia. I can`t remember hearing it on the radio at all.

In Canada, not a lot of stores even bothered carrying the remastered CDs, so that pretty much says it all.

I've seen Orchestral Manouevres twice... the "Junk Culture", "Crush" tours. both shows were great. I really wish I could have seen them on the A+M tour like Glok did.....

I only hear OMD on the weekly 80's show on KNDD here in Seattle, and not often at that. However, a lot of the local stores stocked Architecture and Morality and the other remasters when they came out a few years back.
P.S. My first new wave concert was OMD on the A+M tour in '82. For a synth band, they were surprisingly powerful live. Definitely not afraid of pushing the volume so you could feel the music, rather than just hear it. Punks were slam dancing, which I can't say I expected at an OMD show!

OMD really hasn't released anything new in quite a few years so there's not much to talk about. Depeche, New Order, and Kraftwerk have so whether people like the new stuff or not, at least they've got a topic to ponder on. Also, rumors have been flying for years on a best of OMD dvd but nothing has ever transpired. At least if there's nothing new, an OMD dvd would give old fans something to cheer about.

I totally agree with you, but even if they release something, it somehow goes unnoticed. I remeber back in the 90's, as they released Walking On The Milkyway, the video wasn't even shown on tv and I also don't remeber hearing it on the radio. It's different with New Order, still manage to score hits, remember "Crystal" and "Here To Stay".
