VH1 Classic re-named their new wave/alt video show, "The Alternative", to "VH1 Classic 120 Minutes". Don't think it contains classic footage of Dave Kendall or Kevin Seal, happily lol, but it's kind of cool to have the name back. "The Alternative" always sounded to me like it'd be filled with Soul Asylum and Alice in Chains vids.

Anyway, it's on late late tonight...

Also, pretty slick new site and logo for VH1 Classic, as well, which was desperately needed, IMO...

Nice to see something good coming out of that recent Viacom instigated VH1 departmental 'bloodletting'..[|)]

I have tons of episodes taped. I mean, like, every episode for about 5-6 years. Yes, hundreds of tapes. From Dave Kendall through Matt Pinfield. I will have to transfer them to DVD (much will wind up on the cutting room floor).
Some of the best episodes were those hosted by "guests". John Lydon, Henry Rollins and the Afghan Whigs made several appearances.

The Alternative was filled with Soul Asylum and Alice in Chains vids.

It actually was in sets. You'd get 5 or 6 good new wave or 80s alternative videos, then they's come back from a commerical with Jane's Addiction or Concrete Fucking Blonde and there'd be a set of early 90s major label alternative.

What the hell happened to VH1 classic? They NEVER play videos anymore. If they do, it's at 5-9am. Everything else is like Flashdance, Imagine: The Movie, Behind the Album and other snooze inducing fair.

Yep, the first 5 or 6 were good new wave and that was it. I stopped watching the alternative a while ago.

I curse myself for deleting them off of my DVD/HD. When they first started they played great songs, now its ho-hum and what is the deal with the damn movies, they play movies movies movies. Im stil waiting for the reality shows to kick in.

I still can't look at a CD by Curve without thinking of Dave Kendall saying "From the ahl-bum DOPPEL-GANG-AH!, here's Cuhhhrve with FAIT! A-com-PLI!"

Same goes for "Grey Cell Green" from Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

Agreed. There were definitely better episodes than others. Johnny usually brought some better choices during his appearances.

I watched that Talking Heads movie on VH1 Classics the other night "True Storys" (I think). I had never seen it before and thought it was pretty cool. I did notice that thats where they got the video for "Wild Life". Plus John Goodman is in it, which is nice.
