Bleecker Bob's to be replaced by ANOTHER FUCKING STARBUCKS!! (pardon my French, but can't someone walk 3 blocks to another Starbucks?)

And Southpaw was a very good venue- intimate

please email us at Bleeckerbobs@yahoo.com if you see available retail space for rent. Bleecker Bobs is not planning to close, heck we just bought a bunch of metal cds yesterday and a lp collection including lots of Beatles/Bruce/Dylan and other classic rock favorites!!!

It was GREAT seeing 20/20 there for the Brooklyn Popfest.

But Bob's, honestly with all the Burberry and Dolce shops along Bleeker now, it is pretty anachronistic. Need to find some slummy street. Is there one left in NYC??

When Bob Plotnik quit law to open up a record store in Greenwich Village in the '60s, the only thing he wanted was to get hold of his favorite street doo-wop records ahead of everyone else. And though "Bleecker Bob" is identified with some of the great names of rock and roll through the decades, and especially downtown movements from the Village's folk scene through punk, new wave and alternative music, now, time is finally catching up with the oldest record store in the Village. For the Records, a documentary film by Emily Judem and Hazel Sheffield, explores Bleecker Bob's impending closure and the nature of change and development in an urban setting. The film screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers.

Sad as they are one of the last of a burgeoning record trade in the Village

Not that sad as I always found them heinously overpriced and understocked on the stuff I was looking for
