Playlists From New Wave Stations - Help!

Postby roc51 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:04 pm

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone can help with links for playlists/end of year countdowns from prominent New Wave Radio stations in the 80's.

I've got KROQ (LA) and 91X (San Diego) but does anyone have anything from KNAC (Long Beach) before they went Metal? How about New York, Chicago, etc?

Cheers!

this is a list of all the screamers and shrieks of the week on WLIR/WDRE in New York (listeners voted for favorite new song every week):

and this is a comprehensive list of much of what they played over the years. For some reason, I can no longer get the list to go to the next page, maybe you'll have better luck. Unless the site is just screwed up now. If you can't get it to work and want the full list, let me know and I can email you a word doc I made ages ago.

There was a station in Canada(Windsor I think, mightve even been in Detroit) called 89X, & had a dj named Darren Revell, they used to play a ton of new wave stuff. You might have to do some research to find some of their old playlists.

Guess what: you ain't missing much if you miss the Q101 (Chicago) countdowns. They were a kind of AOR station for a while, then went 'alternative' in the early '90s, and within the last couple years switched formats yet again. Bandwagon-jumpers extraordinaire.
