Were Ray Davies and Kate Bush really cut out of NBC's broadcast of the closing ceremonies? I DVR'd it, and only saw a little, but with all the crap they fill their broadcasts with, and "Teenie Tempah" included, how could they cut Ray/Kate? Did Kate actually perform, or was it just the music?

Unfortunately, Kate wasn't there - just here music. Also unfortunately, Ray was there, looking worn and sounding frankly irrelevant. I think you had to catch the live stream to get it all uninterrupted, but it honestly might have been a blessing this one time to watch NBC's pared down version. The whole closing was incredibly pointless. What a letdown after a great games.

Can't comment on NBC, other than knowing they didn't carry it live. CTV had good enough coverage. I just wish organizers could have found a way of incorporating some footage, from the Specials, New Order and Blur concert, that was in Hyde Park, earlier in the day or overlapping the ceremony in the stadium.

Never saw The Who either.

Organizers of the London Olympics approached the Who's manager to inquire about having Keith Moon play at an Olympics event despite the drummer being dead for nearly 34 years, the Sunday Times reports.

"I emailed back saying Keith now resides in Golders Green crematorium, having lived up to the Who's anthemic line 'I hope I die before I get old'," the band's longtime manager, Bill Curbishley, told the Times. "If they have a round table, some glasses and candles, we might contact him."
