In news that I'm sure is of no interest to anyone except me....I started my Top 24 Bands Of The First 24 Years Of College Radio Project. Since I started from the 1979 the other time with my Top 12 Of The First 12 Years, I decided to starte from the other end to see how long it takes U2 to become number one. The number one college rock artists of the years 2003-2002 is....The White Stripes! Alphabetically, right now, ny entres go from ....And You Shall Know Them By The Trail Of The Dead (My favorite band name of ALL time) to Yo La Tango. Further updates as warranted...

In a development that frankly, would suprise me if anyone else cared about it besides me, in my Top 24 College Radio Artists For The First 24 Years Of College Rock, we have a new number one. For those of you playing at home, U2 and REM will be Numbers 1 and 2 respectively. The White Stripes were trhe previous Number 1. The New Number 1 for the years 2003-2001 is....Radiohead. See if you piece them together by playing at home.

Still slogging through The Top 24 Artists Of The First 24 Years Of College Rock. Built To Spill is the new #1 for the years, 2003-1999. For those playing the home game, U2 and REM will top out at #1 and #2. White Stripes and Radio Head were the previous #1's. There will be a quiz. Meanwhile I'm watching Sonic Youth on Austin City Limits.

Down to 1997 in my countdown of the Top 24 College Rock Bands Of The First 24 Years Of College Rock. It turns out I was erroenous in reporting Sonic Youth as a #1. Previous #1s were Radiohead and The White Stripes. Built To Spill has roared back into the #1 posiiton. I'm going to start tearing intom my favorite music book tonight, Our Band Could Be Your Life. It relates how the underground music scene formed from 1981-1991.

Still working on my Top 24 College Radio Acts of the First 24 Years. I have to revise something. I was thinking that U2 would reamin the top dog as it had for the first 12 years. I'm going to have to revise that prediction, number one will be....are you ready for it...Sonic Youth. Longevity, plus constant placement in the end of the year end Top 20 will do that. U2 second, REM third.....

It's been a while since I posted an update on my project concerning the Top 24 College Rock Artists of the First 24 Years of College Rock. That's because of a lack of a new artist at number one. My first number on band, White Stripes will not be in the final 24. Radiohead has been a previous number one, as has Built To Spill, but the newest one by a long shot is...Smashing Pumpkins. The three top artists will be Sonic Youth, U2, and REM. There WILL be some surprises, I promise this.....any guesses out there ....?
