Any musicians out there who used to play new wave

Postby WoodlandParkPunk » Wed Jan 09, 2013 2:14 am

Is there anybody here who used to play in a new wave band or still does? What do you play and who do you sound like? I play bass but during the 80's I played drums ( electronic Simmons drums ) in a band that was a cross between the Cars and Elvis Costello around the Atlanta GA area. Now 47 years old and still like to crank out some old favorites from time to time.

I will say this: at my old band's first gig we covered 'Planet Earth'. We had only about six songs to our name so we needed something to add to the set. 'Cept just to give it a twist instead of Simon LeBon I sang in the style of Mark E Smith. As with our original material, no one knew what the fuck we were on about.
A while back I started a thread posing the question to other NWOers if they played in a band, and had no taker whatsoever.

I played drums in a band in high-school and we played a short set of 80's songs from Split Enz ("I Got You"), Billy Idol ("Dancin with Myself"), The Cult ("She Sells Sanctuary") and a few others from The Cure and Echo & The Bunnymen. We entered a few Battle of the Bands and didn't win any of 'em. :)
