As someone who listen mostly to Britsh bands, I have always tought that, when you´re listening to music, it doesn't matter if you don't understand the lyrics. If you like the music, that's enough. That's why I tought that it would be nice to share with you some good old 80s punk and new wave from my country.
These bands came to prominence in the mid 80s, around the same time of the end of a 12-year dictatorship here in Uruguay, so the lyrics reflect that paticular time in the hsitory of the country. Muiscally, they were influenced mainly by British bands. I discovered them when I was just getting into music, when I was just 12. Even tough I didn't buy albums of any of these bands (I was too young), used to pray for my favourite radio station to play their songs.
Well, let´s begin.

Los Traidores
Formed in 1983.
Influenced by: The Clash, Sex Pistols, The Smiths.
Discograpy:
First album: Montevideo Agoniza (1986)
Most recent album: Primavera Digital (2002)
My favourte songs: Flores En My Tumba, La Lluvia Cae Sobre Montevideo

Well, that's all for now. I hope you like the songs. If there's enough interest I'll post stuff by other bands of the era.

Glad you liked the songs. The name of the lead singer of Los Estómagos is Gabriel Peluffo and I had a major crush on him when I was 13 or so. And I wasn´t the only one my age who fancied him. One of my classmates was obsessed with him aswell. He´s the definitive sex simbol of the local rock scene and he gets better with age.
I quite fancied the lead singer of Los Traidores too.
