French New Wave

Your thoughts on French New Wave.

I have always been a fan of Elli & Jacno, Lio, and Caroline Loeb.

And even though they're a 21st Century act, I do like how Nouvelle Vague has been covering classic New Wave tunes in an ambient, chillout, lounge fashion.

Well, Mylène Farmer is not really New Wave but at least she had a slight bit of it in her music. The song "L'horloge" is a good example of how New Wave blends into her music. And to this day I stll love her songs although the sound has gone through some changes.

I think the only French singer coming from the new wave scene and that is still popular today releasing new material regularly is Etienne Daho.

Here three French classics :
BUZY - Dyslexique (1981) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2YnNFu6E7E
ETIENNE DAHO - Le grand sommeil (1982) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DROZA4cjUDY
TAXI GIRL - Cherchez le garçon (1980) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av83iD8zn_w

This one was a classic in Northern French and Belgian nightclubs at the time :
BUZZ - Kennedy (1986) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXxW-21PQVc

My favorite new wave group from France is Trisomie 21 :
TRISOMIE 21 - The Last Song (1986) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLtx4_h6Wug
TRISOMIE 21 - Another Move (1989) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znQCmHEfWG4

Les Rita Mitsouko and Patrik Hernandez seem to be most known internationally.

There are few great French wave compilations which may introduce to the French new wavers:
