<br>Labels have to realize that all you need to do is burn a CD buyer once or twice with bad mastering, and you will ensure loss of sales for future releases. If you build a quality reputation then customers will return without hesitation.[/quote]This is very true. Now I am very cautious before buying any Cherry Red releases, whenever possible I try to ask the experts first. I never buy CD's that are mastered from vinyl, I mean why buy a crackly CD when you can do that yourself with less pops and clicks. The problem is you only find out after the purchase.
A prime example of extremely shitty mastering is Cherry Red's release in the past few months of Ruefrex. All the hype for this release, and it is clearly from vinyl, and horrendous sounding, as if absolutely no attempt was made to reduce the noise. My own copy blows their release away, but I did not know it would be from vinyl. They should clearly state this fact up front wherever their releases are distributed. They do have some excellent sound quality releases, but Ruefrex is not one of them. It's hard to believe they would allow such trashy quality to leave their hands.
Any comments on the Avon Calling double CD, sound quality-wise?[:D]
