In the same vein as Blir's "Greatest Signature Starting Notes" thread let's list the the tunes that kick it off immediately with a vocal utterance of any sort be it a word or an "ooh" or a "la". Let's not make the list some kind of completist list and try to keep it to real signature songs. Songs that you recognize instantaneously by that first kick off vocal sound.
Angel, Eurythmics
Catch Me I'm Falling, Real Life
Fascist Groove Thing, Heaven 17
Rainy Day, APB
This Is Not A Love Song, Public Image Limited
Work For Love, Ministry
You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) Dead Or Alive
This Corrosion, Sisters of Mercy

Wow, in thinking about this, there are some classics! Really different than an instrumental start - kinda like annoucning "here I am and here is this song", then usally, bang, right into the song. Cool.
The The - Jealous of Youth - "It's funny how, we grow old...."
Joy Division - Warsaw - "3-5-0-1-2-5-Go!"
The Clash - London's Burning - "Londong's Burning!", freaking classic exclamation
Gang of Four - Cheeseburger - "I need a cheesburger to go!"
New York Dolls - Looking for a Kiss - "When I say I'm in love..."
The Smiths - This Night Has Opened My Eyes - "In a river, the color of lead..."
Sparks - Eaten by the Monster of Love - "Don't let it get me..."
Depeche Mode - Master & Servant - "It's a lot, it's a lot..."
The Bangles - Want You - "I...I...I...Want You!" off their epic EP
Buzzcocks - Orgasm Addict - "Well you tried it just for once..."
Pretenders - Stop Your Sobbing - "It is time, for you to stop..."
Culture Club - Do You Really Want to Hurt Me? - "Ooh, give me time..."

My first reaction to this thread was how frustrating it was to try to record songs off the radio onto your trusty cassette when the song started off with vocals ! Remember that ? It would drive me crazy. I hated getting a recording when the first few notes were cut off. What was even more obnoxious was when the DJ talked over the first few notes--urgh! Hopefully, you got a DJ who actually announced ahead of time what he was playing, so you could get ready, fingers excitedly poised over RECORD.
Instantly recognizable opening vocals? How about
"Is There Something I Should Know?" by Duran Duran.
