You choice and your comments as to why?

If there's more than 8 albums, I've chosen the first 8. I'll compile all the results for all the bands in one place.

As an album, Republic and Get Ready hang together the most and are the most consistent. But, man, what a list of great albums! Hard to choose one over another.

I do love Low Life and Movement, but my fave NO album--and what i think is their best--is Power, Corruption, and Lies. Moody, atmospheric, still retains their earliest sound, but also a giant glimmer of their newer, dance-y-type sound...plus, it was the 1st NO album I'd heard or seen. And who could forget that it contains the classic "Blue Monday". The best NO song EVAH !

I too go with Power Corruption and Lies. Best album art. 'Your Silent Face' is just...wow.
But unless I'm wrong, Blue Monday was never on that album. It was a 12" issued right about the same time, probably even recorded during the same sessions.
... maybe added later to CD editions of the album??

It's on the US version - UK version didn't have it. There just seems to be a much more active market in the UK for people who love chasing these singles and b-sides. Even today, a lot of the US releases have bonus tracks where UK ones don't. I guess we have a short enough attention span and they just better give it to us while they can.

There are way too many of these to post comments in every one. I pick Movement.

Technique! I could listen to Technique from start to finish and never get bored once! From the guitar to dance styles, it is a masterpiece! Not a weak track on the album, although Fine Time might be the weakest, IMO, it is still very listenable and enjoyable.

Technique because ... hmm, just very polished New Order. It was the prefect time for this album. I thought the weakest track on here was Run.

For me, it was toss up between Low Life and Technique. I went with Technique because of my affinity for dance music and WOW, did this album deliver. I was going to F.I.T. around the time of it's release and it was on constant play in my Walkman during classes or on the train, I remember. I agree with obs, it really was the perfect time for an album like this. And New Order do dance music so, so, so well. Plus, what an amazing graphic design campaign Peter Saville did for that era of New Order. All classic art, psychedelic colors, the things with the pills.....awesome stuff. Truly an inspiration during my design school years. And I swear, every single song on that album could have been a single. Mr. Disco, Vanishing Point, Guilty Partner...very powerful stuff. With this album, I think New Order *perfected* the art of entire concept album making - definitely one of the tightest albums ever made. The cohesion and flow are unprecedented in my humble opinion. I'm listening to Technique as I write this and the feeling is the same as when it first dropped.

This was a tough one Blir, lol - especially since I've posted about the magnificence that is Low Life more than once and especially the twenty first century crop of New Order releases. Technique was just so...seductive. This was one album that I actually used to make people stop and listen to. I was elated when I heard that the next New Order album would be a slight revisit of Technique [8D][8D][8D][8D][8D]

geez, marv, that was the most beautiful panegyric to an album that I've ever seen. You love this album so much you want to marry it ![:p]

I went with "Low Life". Beside being a great album, it came out during a great time in my life. So I am a bit sentimental to it. But it is really hard to pick one New Order favorite.

I've always loved Power Corruption & Lies. My favorite NO song, Age of Consent is on here. I believe this is the album that really made NO into NO and not a shadow of Joy Division. This album is haunting at times and beautiful at other times. Great synth strings, awesome basslines, and cold Bernhard vocals. What a great combination.
