Celebrities who are new wave fans

Postby hutter » Fri Aug 18, 2006 12:39 pm

Read an interview with rassler Norman "The Big Wiggle" Smiley (yeah, rasslin' fans CAN read) and when asked who his favorite music group is, without hesitation said it was a tie between "A Flock Of Seagulls" and "Gary Numan". Interesting choices for a rassler, I thought. Does anyone else know of any A-Z list celebrities that love the new wave?

You would think a lot of the actors & actresses that are about our age are New Wavers or like New Wave. I would say the ones between 30-45 years of age. Johnny Depp, Molly Ringwald, John Cusak, Rob Lowe, etc.

Elizabeth Hand...who you may not have heard of unless you read Science Fiction or the Washington Post Book Reviews...is a New Wave fan. She likes some obscure stuff also.

I know this because I've met her and had a conversation about the Buzzcocks with her one time.

Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, of all people, named some new wave songs on the iTunes Celebrity Playlist thingy. Awww, deep inside, he's a sensitive new wave fanboy.

Interesting to know about that wrestling guy (whom I had never heard of) being a Numanoid. Other celebrity Numanoids that I know of are Billy Corgan, Arnold Schwarzeneggar, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd), and several others that I can't think of right now (besides the obvious ones like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson).
