The Cure, U2 and Depeche Mode have been there for a while now. Even China Crisis made acomeback but these are great bands ecept maybe or U2 (personal opinion of course)

I heard recently the new stuffs from RODDY FRAME, IAN BROUDIE, MORISSEY, PAUL WELLER, ALAN WILDER. They're all very different right now.[:(] Well, "THERE'S NOTHING PERMANENT IN THIS WORLD, BUT CHANGE."

In their own words, the Thompson Twins should never have continued after Joe Leeway left the band which was after "Here's to Future days" and before "Close to the Bone".

Yeah, Gary Numan's "Berserker" makes me physically ill. Just what the hell was the man thinking? I felt totally betrayed.

Well, what bands from the new wave did you think went on for too long? Which bands did you think released maybe one album too many or maybe even more than that?

Here's a few at the top of my head. I've enjoyed various songs by these bands after the albums I've listed, but not enough to really recommend them to anyone:

DEVO
New Traditionalists was the last great Devo album

That's just a few that I can think of.

What fizzled it for me with Devo was when "Whip It" became so commercialized it was mutilated out of its New Wave impact and significance. Thus, the public would look at Devo only after they became popularized by this track. It's like when people got interested in Elvis Costello and "Pump It Up" suffered the same fate.

I know they are slagged off mercilessly for nearly everything post-English Settlement, but I am really partial to the album and all of its rural Angloness. However, I really could do without much of their later releases and absolutley couldn't get into their later very commercial "psycheldelic-folk-mod-pop" thing. I think they should have called it quits after Skylarking - and even that one wasn't too thrilling.

Siouxsie and the Banshees should have quit IMO after Through The Looking Glass. I think that cover-album of bands who influenced them would have been a nifty swansong.

I was not a big fan of the direction that XTC went in after "Black Sea" and the first single released from each album afterwards always suckered me into thinking they would go back to their earlier sound, which never happened. It took me a long time to appreciate "English Settlement", which I still think is just an okay album. I actually prefer "Nonsuch" a whole lot more. The fact that the Dukes of Stratosphear were becoming more popular than XTC themselves should have alerted them to what they were doing later on.

I thought Siouxsie and the Banshees should have called it quits when "Superstition" came out ("Kiss Them For Me" is a great song, not much else is memorable from that album to me; and this is one of my favorite bands!). Maybe it was the addition of a keyboard player to their lineup, I don't know. But if they did break up then, they never would have made "The Rapture", which I thought was a terrific album and a fine swansong for the band.
