1) Read out loud the text inside the triangle below.

<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/Rubbeet/untitled-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

More than likely you said, "A bird in the bush," and........
if this IS what YOU said, then you failed to see
that the word THE is repeated twice!
Sorry, look again.

2) Count every " F" in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE
SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI
FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH
THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

HOW MANY ?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.
READ IT AGAIN !
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Go back and look again!!

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.

Three is normal, four is quite rare.

<p align="justify">I was able to read both "the." I managed to get five "F"s and that's a damn shame since I was expecting to get all six - I've seen a similar test before[;)]

I'm guessing MAS and KYYX4ever have lots of brain teasers like these!

I failed to see the 2nd "THE" when it hit my inbox. I was reading it in a hurry not knowing it was a test.[B)][:D]

I missed the second "the" also. But I did get all 6 f's. Go figure.

Yes, but you're more exposed to words with the letter "f" in it than most of the others taking the test. It's given you a heightened sensitivity to it.

I only saw 4.

That's cool Rubbeet. I use the count the F's as an activity in a training, although the one I use has 12 F's. It took me about 20 tries the first time I saw it to find more than 6.

I think the cool lesson it that we don't "read" every letter or word, but simply recognize their shape or make a logical leap in our heads as to what the word will be by glancing at some of the letters.

Here's another cool one:

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteres are at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a tatol mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

Damn Wolv ... if you're going to quote the Sossmeister at least attribute it to him.

[:D][:D] I kid the Sossmeister. I really wish he'd post more. Come back Sam!

You need to have all of the right letters in the word for this to work correctly. "Important" doesn't have an E in it, so the brain has to pause to process it.

I love stuff like this. I got 5 of the "F"s! I still can't find the sixth one.....[}:)]

edit: Oh snap! The word "of" is shown twice on the second line! Wow, cool stuff. Anybody have any more?
