KQAK San Francisco..Radio station during the 80's

Postby GlamDude » Wed Oct 11, 2006 9:56 am

Hello all!

My first post here,I would like to introduce myself a little.

Im Shawn (aka Glam Dude) and I am a DJ on Xwaveradio.I am sure a few of you are familiar with our station.(I am DJing now,and I have a really great synth set going on)

I have a huge collection of 80's music and I am really looking forward to meeting others who have the same music interests.

I like many of you survived the 80's somehow and in some aspects I never really left.

Anyways,as a teen in the 80's I used to listen to 'The Quake' and I am kind of looking for other people that used to listen to this station many years ago.

Look forward to meeting you!

Yep, great station. I have lots of songs swimming through my head from that period.

Many of my mystery songs from that time have been discovered here. You came to a great place.

The morning Quake show with Alex Bennett(he's on Sirius now) and Joe Regalski was the only other morning show that I've liked other than Howard Stern.

Welcome to the fold...

Welcome GlamDude! [:D] My friend from Cal State Long Beach who DJ-ed at KNAC (105.5 FM), left for the Quake when they switched to heavy metal! [:(] I listed a total of like 5 or 6 times in the '80s, when I visited San Francisco.

I really enjoyed Live 105 back in the day.
I also enjoyed The Quake for the short time I got to listen. After Live 105 stopped being the radio staion I enjoyed back in the day, I gave up on radio all together to feed my music fix.

Yes!!The Quake ruled!!,
Wow I cant believe you guys remember the DJ's even!

I was not able to go to that DOTG though, but I do remember when it happened.

What clubs/venue's did you all go to in SF 'back in the day'?I was a regular at the Mab(Mabuhay Gardens),The Farm,Ruthies Inn (Berkley) and a dozen other hole in the wall joints.

I am going to be visiting S.F next month and I plan on going to the DNA Lounge to see 'New Wave City'(Nov.4th).Have any of you been there before?
