Postby newwavepop » Sun Nov 05, 2006 12:20 am

there are alot of bands out there that i just never get around to hearing every song by.
ive heard some church songs ive heard some church albums.
i love unguarded moment, i like milky way and metropolis.
but i notice my favorite song by them that ive heard is destination im also very fond of phaorohes.
neither of which ever appear on best of type albums.
are there any other great church songs that you would suggest that arent the obvious well known songs?
great lost album tracks?

Their 1983 album "Seance" is their best. I also love their debut "Of Skins and Heart", as well as the collection of Ep's, "Sings Songs/Remote Luxury/Persia".

Favorite songs (from the mentioned releases):

Electric Lash
Constant in Opal
Shadow Cabinet
Fighter Pilot, Korean War
Fraulein
Sisters
One Day
Travel By Thought
Ancient History
Violet Town

You can view the video for "Electric Lash" here:

Yeps Reptile and Shadow Cabinet are very good songs. I love the Church, I think that I have 15 albums of that band. Starfish is a popular album with Remote Luxury and Of Skins and Heart cited by Rubellan. From the album A Box of Birds, I like also The Endless Sea.

My favorite album from the church would be their Self-title album that have the WXB102 classic "Unguarded Moment". One of my earliest Vinyl Records I bought. Great Band indeed. I love their Video collections which I have on VCD.[8D]

I think their best song is "As You Will" - a b-side from the Heyday sessions.

I love The Church and I own practically everything by them. The Australian reissues from a couple of years ago are well worth the money. I think my favorite albums are Heyday and Gold Afternoon Fix.

Some favorite songs:

"Columbus"
"Metropolis"
"Paradox"
"Electric Lash"
"The Unguarded Moment"
"Ripple"
"Tristesse"
"Bel-Air"
"Tantalized"
"You're Still Beautiful"

There was a video collection released on VHS and Laserdisc in the US around 1990 or so; it was issued on DVD in Australia with a couple of bonus videos, and I believe it is PAL Region 0.

My favorite Church song is the rocker "When You Were Mine". There are enough hooks in that tune to fill an entire album.

I don't own much Church after 1992's "Priest = Aura", but there are some amazing songs on their 2002 album "After Everything Now This". Try the title track and "Numbers"...right up their with most of the great songs mentioned above!

I almost lost touch with the church after the disappointing Metropolis, but i was blown away by their later work. They continue to evolve. Check out "After Everything Now This, Priest Aura and Forget Yourself" they never stopped. Everyone else did. They are incredible live! [8D]

Their prolific solo and side projects are also exceptional in many cases. Steve Kilby has been the most prolific, with some gems and some rather harder to listen to instrumental releases. All in all, my favorite solo releases are those by Peter Koppes and also his releases with The Well. MWP solos also excellent. You could fill a large shelf alone with all their solos and side projects. I think to this day The Church continues their brilliance to this day IMO.

I like everything they released.I can't tell you how many times I've seen them. They are doing gigs at the moment but I don't think it's the original line-up.I'm going to see them in Jan when they are backing for the Pretenders.
