<br>BWAH! I was wondering that myself.

I wonder if people who think that make no distinction between pre- and post-Different Light Bangles. They were an adorable "Paisley Underground" pop band on their EP and All Over the Place LP. It seems after that, the Princes, Billy Steinbergs and the like all wanted to give them the big market gloss. It sure paid off financially for them, but that latter stuff wasn't the shit I listened to.

Perhaps. I've just never been a fan of the early stuff and certainly not the latter songs.

Maybe I ought to give them another listen (well, the earlier stuff, anyway). It has been a long, long time since I gave them a listen, and to be honest, I heard the newer stuff first, and it might have tainted anything else I heard by them.

Was it "something that you said"? Could be . . .

And if I do another artist for another tunes elimination round game that's now deemed "cheesy," I'll try to find one that's more like gorgonzola than limburger. I still like early Bangles (before they went so corporate). . .by contrast, my sister loved and still loves "Eternal Flame" but she's beyond hope . . . (she listens to the Spears woman, so that tells you something).

I don't understand why the Bangles have such a bad rap with some people. I've seen them twice in concert (albeit, not the best concerts I ever went to), but the fact that these 5 women can harmonize perfectly together amazes me! I wasn't a big fan of the first EP, but "All Over the Place" is a very good album, and I thought "Different Light" was even better. Just good pop stuff, and well executed. I try to forget they had a third album, and haven't listened to the reunion CD yet.

Oh, and yes, "Following" (my least favorite song from "Different Light") is not following this thread anymore...

I'm sure some of you want this thread over with, already. :) They are OUR harmonizers in this era . . . like it or not. All Over the Place and Different Light do deserve merits for different reasons, even if the Different Light legacy (particularly what happened next) that seems to give even Michael Steele a bad name--has had its weight --but some of us remember them back in the day, when they were one of the few, rare all female rock bands--I even remember when Rodney on the Roq asked the Go-Go's if they heard of the Bangs, and they all answered yes and seemed to think fondly of them. In other words, they're NOT the Spice Girls.

Okay, let's see . . . Let's drop "Everything I Wanted" as it still has that dreaded "E" word that DID make them unbearable. . .
