A Drop In The Grey

Postby stranded » Wed Nov 22, 2006 7:40 am

I got a couple of tracks from MSK Remember compilations. What a great sounding band.
I had never heard of them before, and all I know is that they have only 1 early 80's album.
Can anyone shead any more light on this band please?
Cheers......[:)]

In our country, we have this new wave compilation NEW MUSIC PERFECT RHYTHM and it features 1 song by A DROP IN THE GRAY. The song is ALL THE SAME. I like their style. Very New Wave or me. Too bad their album was not released here. Not that i knew of.

That song "All The Same" is on the album Certain Sculptures. This band certainly deserved to be more in the 80's new wave mainstream.

My 1st exposure to this band was on the "Sampling the Rarities" section of this very web-site; you get to hear a snippet of 'Heartache feeds Heartache'.

Last autumn I found this lp for $1 in a crate amongst alot of old Dan Fogelberg records. I knew it was my duty to rescue it....!!

A DROP IN THE GRAY was first introduced here in MANILA by both WXB102 and DZBM POWER105 at early 1986. YUP, empyrean the locally VINYL COMPILATION "NEW MUSIC PERFECT RHYTHM" made their song "ALL THE SAME" a hit for this two NEW WAVE RADIO STATIONS. There was no locally pressed VINYL RECORD of "CERTAIN SCULPTURES" here in MANILA back then, but the album had been available here at LEGENDARY A2Z RECORDS as IMPORT. I luckily got my VINYL COPY at ODYSSEY RECORDS HARRISON PLAZA also as an IMPORT.

P.S. stranded thanks again for the PRIVATE LIVES song! Great song!!

I have a copy of this great locally pressed VINYL NEW WAVE RECORD compilation. I'll email it you next week. I consider this as one of the greatest NEW WAVE COMPILATION here in MANILA. Remember the VINYL COMPILATION "IT'S CALLED NEW MUSIC"? This was also a great locally pressed NEW WAVE compilation that had influenced a lot of FILIPINO NEW WAVERS back then.
